旧正月と節分の関係

皆様ごきげんよう

いよいよ節分です。二十四節季で一番大切、
一年の始まりです。

この行事を　まず、英語で説明してみましょう

Setsubun is the event held to pray for our happy and healthy life.
節分は福と健康を願う行事です

It is held on Feb 3th.this year.
今年は２月3日です。

Setsubun refers to the day before the beginning of each season

(the first days of spring, summer, fall and winter).

節分とは各季節の始まりの日、立春・立夏・立秋・立冬の前日のことです

The literal meaning of the word Setsubun is “division of the seasons,”
節分は季節を分けるという意味です

Out of all the 4 Setsubun days, Risshun (the first day of spring) is the most special day.
４つの節分の中で立春は特別に大切な日です

Setsubun signifies the ending of winter and the beginning of spring.
節分は冬が終わって春になることを意味しています

It is believed that *oni come when the seasons change in Japan.

"Oni is a devil like creature from Japanese folklore"

日本では季節の変わり目は鬼がやってくると言われています

There are many rituals to exorcise these oni.
鬼を追い払うためのさまざまな儀式などがあります

The rituals differ in each region.
地方によって儀式は異なります

There are many setsubun events held in different temples and shrines.

多くの寺社で様々な節分の行事が行われます。

豆まきは代表的な行事ですが、なぜ豆？？
こたえられますか？

One reason for the roasting and throwing of beans at setsubun is to pray for happiness throughout the year.
Another reason is so that the evil of the previous year is prevented from sprouting from the beans in the new year.

豆を煎って撒く理由は、通年の幸運を祈って。
もうひとつの理由として言われるのが、豆は昨年の悪いことを含むため、燃やして、芽が出ないようにするため、とか。

この辺りを仕込んでおくと、聞かれた時にこまりません。

で、春の始まり、一年の始まりなのに、
旧暦正月とずれてる。。
